You ever stopped and thought “wow, I prayed for this. It’s here. It’s Happening.”
Here’s our story …
Let’s go back to December 2017, when I walked into my HR’s office to hand over my two-week notice. I’d worked at my corporate job for about 3 years and it was becoming very stressful at times. The last year it became unbearable to walk through the doors. I woke up every morning dreading those 8 hours. I was trapped in a toxic environment and didn’t even know it because it became normal to me. The working environment had become so toxic and I didn’t even realize it. It began to affect me mentally, my marriage, and my health. God spoke to me and I knew it was time to leave this job.
Marcus and I worked out a plan that would allow me to take time off from the corporate world to focus on my health. We both knew resigning from this job was the best decison however, we had just got married in June 2017, so you can imagine the amount of stress we were dealing with. We had to maintain our jobs, try to balance friendships, and adjusting to the married life …your girl was struggling in life.
Making the decision to leave my full-time job was one of the scariest decisions of my life. But even though it had my eyes watering, and my palms sweating, I’m glad I did it. I am proud to say that these have been the best 8 months of my LIFE. I was able to start my blog Capturedbydartis, and pick up additional career certifications for my next corporate role. During this time I was able to pick up some contracting jobs, focus on giving my husband all of me, and living a healthier lifestyle.
When God tells you to move you don’t have time to make sense of it, you simply trust him. We were still able to tithe on every dollar we had coming into our household.
When you are rooted in Christ, it doesn’t matter where you are planted.
Fast – Forward to when we decided that we wanted to relocate. We both knew Charlotte had served it’s purpose in our lives, this was the city that brought us together, we fell in love, and had many happy memories.
Marcus began his job search in late 2017, going on interview after interview with no offer. This was a very stressful time for both of us but we’ve learned through this experience that God tested our faith to make us stronger.
For we live by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).
Those words seem simple enough. Right? or Nah?
I’ve learned that these words, this simple concept, “For we Live by Faith, not by sight” can be a much tougher assignment. In order to pass the test it requires courage, faith, fasting/praying, and depending on God for strength. At times it seemed as if we were misunderstood or even abandoned. But we chose to focus on the BIGGER picture…the plan God had for us.
Sure, we moved out of our townhouse we lived in for 3 years…then into a Airbnb for one month….and then back into another townhouse for a month to month lease. Marcus even sold his dream car so we could pay off half of our debt. Here’s a picture of his car because he doesn’t want me to continue without showing you guys his dream car. Hahaha…
So you could say we’ve been through a bit of transition lately. We heard everything from “You guys are doing way too much” or “maybe this move is not meant to happen for you guys”. We knew TRUSTING God was critical during this transition. Listen, what God has for you it is for YOU. When God speaks to you it’s not for everyone to understand, you must have God at the center of your life and not people. But with God, all things are possible.
God Provides You With What You need
This journey was a blessing and very rewarding for us. It was a journey that was exciting, life-altering, and mind-boggling. It allowed us to see and experience God as he was meant to be: in all his fullness and grace. Walking by faith and not by sight requires you to go to a place you do not know, one that God will reveal as you walk in obedience.
We were obedient with God and received many blessings. Despite, all the challenges we faced, we were still able to travel. We had weekend trips to Wrightsville Beach, and our 1 yr Anniversary was celebrated on a 8 day cruise to La Romana, Grand Turk, Curacao, and Aruba My Trip to Grand Turk: Turks & Caicos Island & Curaçao Itinerary: How I Spent My Day in Curaçao with friends and family…Marcus, even got his yearly Miami fix lol.
